The Client

Alliant Engineering excels in providing a comprehensive range of engineering and design consulting services for public and private sector clients throughout the United States. With an emphasis on innovation and collaboration, the firm is dedicated to delivering projects that meet the highest standards of client service, efficiency, and community stewardship.

The Challenge

Olive & Company began working with Alliant in 2016. At that time, we created a new visual identity for their brand and implemented it through a redesigned website and updated marketing materials.

After we completed that work, Alliant enjoyed a period of rapid growth, adding new team members, services, and locations. As often happens, though, this growth brought its own set of challenges. As the firm expanded, their brand began to fragment and their website no longer felt like an appropriate representation of their business.

To clarify the firm’s story for internal and external audiences, Alliant asked Olive to redefine their brand and rethink their website experience.

The Solution

To begin our work, we interviewed stakeholders to understand perceptions, identify issues, and uncover opportunities. From these interviews and additional discovery research, we created new mission, vision, values, and positioning statements for Alliant. We also developed updated audience personas and key messages to guide the firm’s brand strategy moving forward.

Equipped with these foundational tools, we shifted our focus to the Alliant website. After completing a site assessment to establish performance benchmarks and user behavior insights, we reorganized the site architecture to fill in gaps related to their services, markets, and overall brand story. We also elevated the firm’s culture content to support recruitment efforts and highlighted team members throughout the site to show the people behind the work. For the site’s design, we updated the firm’s color palette and visual styles to create a fresh, modern feel that matched the underlying strategy. Finally, we built the site with flexible navigation systems, smart templating, and an easy-to-update administrative backend platform.

The new website reestablished a cohesive brand focal point for Alliant, and provided a scalable platform to support their continued growth.
